Spring Scholarship Audition Day
March 2, 2019
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

What to Expect

9:30-10:15 a.m. - Registration will begin in the lobby of the Vivia Locke Theatre.  There will be a meet and greet with the faculty.  Parking is available on Saturday in the lot south of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.  There is also street parking available nearby in the area.

10:15 a.m. — Tour of the Vivia Locke Theatre and the Jerry Davis Studio Theatre

10:45 a.m. — Breakout session for a workshop

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — Lunch at The Hideaway Pizza with OSU students

12:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m. — Begin Portfolio Reviews

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.—Arts Administration Dance Emphasis Auditions

1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.—Begin Performance Auditions

2:30 p.m.—End of day wrap up with faculty, parents and students

Performance Auditions

Please, prepare two contrasting monologues with a maximum combined total of 3 minutes.  A current resume and headshot is recommended.

Musical Theatre Auditions

Please, prepare one song and one monologue with a maximum combined total of 3 minutes.  There will be an accompanist, so you must provide sheet music with appropriate cuts indicated.  A current resume and headshot is recommended.

Design Technology and Stage Management

Please, provide a portfolio of your work for review.  Ideally, this would be in paper form, but a combination of a website and paper would be a suitable alternative.  A current resume should be provided.

Students may present a Design Tech portfolio and audition if they so choose.

Arts Administration Dance Emphasis

REQUIRED (all materials will not be returned): please provide a video (CD/DVD, thumb drive, or emailed hyperlinks) to include the following:

Personal Introduction Statement: Please introduce yourself and briefly state the reasons you are interested in the B.A. in Arts Administration with an emphasis in Dance at Oklahoma State University.

1 to 2-minute excerpt of choreography of your choosing (any genre).

Please choose one of the following:
1. Ballet Segment: ballet barrework combination (sideview) OR ballet centerwork combination (adagio, traveling pirouettes, or grand allegro).

2. Modern Segment: 2 modern combinations approximately 32 counts or 1/2 minute each, which should demonstrate articulation of the spine and descending and ascending (floorwork).  Or you may wish to do just one combination which is twice as long (64 counts or one full minute) to include slow, sustained movement as well as quicker footwork/changes of direction.

3. OR ballet centerwork combination and 64 count modern combination.

Please Note:

  • Students must have applied and been accepted for admission to OSU in order to receive a scholarship offer.
  • If students receive and accept a scholarship offer, they must declare a Theatre major and enroll in courses suitable for their year of entry into the program. 
  • The Department of Theatre does not award scholarships to nonmajors or minors.
  • The Department of Theatre does award scholarships to students intending to double major.  However, the student must declare Theatre as their primary major.
