2020-2021 Scholarship Audition Day


February 19-21, 2021

This all virtual event will include activities planned around the days including a ‘go pro’ live tour, invites to classes/workshops, zoom ‘lunch’ with current theatre students (no parents/faculty allowed), zoom with our student theatre organization representatives, and parent and student Q and A time with faculty - detailed schedule to follow! 

Auditions and interviews will occur, February 20th, 2021 between 2pm and 5pm, virtually via Zoom. Students will be allotted a time for a short interview and to share what they have prepared with faculty. You can request a half hour time that works for you, and we will do our best to meet your request. 

How to Apply 

Students interested in Department of Theatre and Dance Scholarships will need to prepare digital copies of their resume and a 1-page letter outlining their degree interest, why they are deserving of a scholarship, and how these funds will benefit the student.

If students have specific degree interest, use the following list to help prepare additional required materials. 

Arts Administration B.A. (Emphases areas - Art History, Dance, Generalist, Studio Art, and Theatre) 
Student should prepare work samples from experience in their areas along with general scholarship requirements, all to be shared digitally for review with short interview. 

Theatre B.A. (Emphases areas - Performance, Design/Technology or Generalist) 
Performance: In addition to the submitted resume and letter, students interested in Performance should prepare the following for their live Zoom audition. 
Acting - prepare two contrasting monologues, no more than 3 minutes total. A short interview will follow. 
Musical Theatre - prepare two contrasting songs of 32 measures and one monologue, no more than 3 minutes total. A short interview will follow. 

Design/Technology: In addition to the submitted resume and letter, students need to also pre-submit their accessible digital portfolio. This can be in the form of a website, power point, word document, etc. Please show us your creativity in a well-organized portfolio. We would like to see storying telling in your work. If possible, show us your creative process from concept to final product. Please submit your work by Friday February 12th for pre-review by the Design and Technology faculty to drama@okstate.edu. For the live Zoom interview, please prepare a 2-3 minute introduction and presentation of your digital portfolio. A short interview will follow. 

Generalist: In addition to the submitted resume and letter, students should prepare for their live Zoom interview 1 monologue and digital samples of work demonstrating theatre experience/interest, not to exceed 3 minutes. A short interview will follow. 

Dance Minor:  (Students must be declared as a Theatre Major with a Dance Minor or an Art Administration Major with Dance Emphasis) 
In addition to their resume and scholarship letter, students should include a link to a 2-3-minute video, demonstrating skills in 2-3 dance forms. A broad range of dance styles and forms are acceptable, including (but not limited to) jazz, contemporary/modern, ballet, west African forms, tap, and/or hip-hop style. In your submission video, please state your name, home city and state, brief description of the piece noting choreographer, and a personal detail.

     • Students must have applied and been accepted for admission to OSU in order to
       receive a scholarship offer.
     • If students receive and accept a scholarship offer, they must declare a Theatre
       major and enroll in courses suitable for their year of entry into the program.
     • The Department of Theatre does not award scholarships to nonmajors or minors.
     • The Department of Theatre does award scholarships to students intending to
       double major. However, the student must declare Theatre as their primary major.
