Below are the descriptions for the Lab Assistant positions in the Scenic Studio and the Costume Laboratory. Any Theatre major or minor may apply for the positions however, preference will be given to students who have College Workstudy. If you did not receive college workstudy but are still interested in one of the positions please go ahead and submit your application. All applications WILL be considered. Description of available positions in the Scenic Studio:
Must have the ability to follow orders and work at least 8 hours a week, with frequent night and weekend work available. The position entails aiding in the construction of scenery and props, scenic painting and producing lighting for a 6 show production season including three mainstage shows, at least one of which will be traveling, and three second stage shows. Qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of basic carpentry techniques, including hand and power tools. Experience working with event lighting, scenic painting, welding, theatrical rigging or properties construction, and possession of the ability to supervise small crews of less skilled intro level lab student labor is a plus. On the job training available for qualified applicants.
Description of available positions in the Costume Laboratory:
The Theatre Department Costume Lab is looking for Costume Lab Assistants to work for the 2010-2011 theatrical season. This position is for 4-8 hours per week depending on skills and time available. Good sewing and time management skills are a must.
